In a world where you can be Anything…
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” One of my very favorite thoughts. We had an older world globe that has been sitting in a closet collecting dust for years. It was offered to the kids to keep, and use, but they didn’t want it. I love globes, but I had nowhere I wanted to put it as it was so I decided it was time to alter it a little. I thought this quote would be the perfect one for my altered globe art.
It was fairly easy to do, just very very time consuming! I did not expect it to take as long as it did. Most of the time was spent hand painting flowers. There would be lots faster ways to do it I’m sure. I’m maybe a little bit stubborn though and once I started painting the flowers by hand, I wanted to finish it that way. I love how my Altered globe turned out!

There wasn’t anything wrong with our globe. It was just a plain, simple world globe. But it didn’t fit anywhere with the decor, and it was either let it continue to sit in the closet collecting dust, give it away, or change it to something I wanted to display.
I pulled out my stash of DecoArt Acrylic paints, my chalkboard paint, and my rose gold Metallic Lustre wax and I started changing the old globe.
The first step was to remove the globe from it’s plastic base. It wasn’t difficult, just pull slightly on the base and it comes out. I painted the base with some Aqua colored spray paint I happened to have already.
Then I used the Americana Chalkboard paint to cover the oceans and water on the globe, painting carefully around each continent. It needed two coats.
I love adding a little shimmer and sparkle wherever I can so these Metallic Lustre waxes are one of my very favorite things. I painted the continents in the Rose Gold color. It has such a beautiful soft metallic shine.
I decided I would put my wording across the larger Pacific ocean, so I added some pretty flowers around the globe, making sure to leave that space open.
A white colored pencil was perfect for guide lines and the acrylic paints were perfect for the flowers. I used several bright colors like Turquoise, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Neon Pink, and Lime Green.
Then I added the wording in a nice bright white. In a world where you can be anything, be kind!
I love the combination of a favorite quote with the shimmery soft rose gold and bright happy flowers. Put them all together on an altered globe and what’s not to like?
No more sitting in a closet, unseen, collecting dust! I just love it now! If you love it as much as I do, be sure to pin it. Thanks!
