Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Valentines Day Ribbon Heart:
Step one:
Cut out a heart shape from cardboard. I used the flap of a shipping box that was just going to get recycled. Cut the inside of the heart out, leaving an open heart shape. Any size will work!
Step two:
Cut your lengths of ribbon. Your ribbon will need to be at least 6 inches in length. Longer if your heart shape is thick.
Step three:
Loop the ribbon and tuck the ends through the loop, tying it around the cardboard heart shape. Vary the ribbon colors so they repeat, or if you prefer you can make them totally random, or even all one color if that’s more your style. Fill the entire heart shape.
Step four:
Turn the ribbon heart over and apply several threads of hot glue around the heart shape to keep the ribbon in place. This also adds a little bit of weight to it so it sits, or hangs better.
Step five:
Trim your ribbon ends if you want. Sometimes it’s hard to tie every one evenly, or they might be just a little longer than you want when it’s all finished. Trim the ribbon to even it out or to adjust the length.
That’s all there is to it! Now you have a fun little Valentines Day Ribbon Heart to hang on your wall, or door. I think next year I might make a few more of these to hang on some kitchen cabinets!
