Resin Coated Fabric Earrings
There are a lot of fun things you can do with Resin. One of my favorite new things to do with it is to coat fabric! If you have favorite fabric scraps you don’t know what to do with this is a great way to use up some of the smaller pieces. Cut out the shapes on the fabric, and coat them with resin for cute custom resin coated fabric earrings. The earrings are lightweight and durable. The fabric won’t fray, or fall apart either and it’s so easy to make them!

Supplies needed to make Resin Coated Fabric Earrings:
- Envirotex Lite Pour-On Epoxy
- Mixing cups, Stir sticks, Gloves
- Silicone Non-Stick Mat (or other non-stick surface)
- Scissors
- Fabric Scraps (Dark Fabric works best)
- Earring Findings Kit
- Needle Nose Pliers
Step one:
First, you’ll need to choose your fabric scraps. Dark fabrics work best. If you want to see what your fabric will look like coated in resin, get it wet. The result will be similar to what the finished resin coated fabric will look like. Be sure to dry the fabric completely before use though! Cut out the shapes you want to use for your earrings. Don’t worry if the lines aren’t perfect, or there are stray strings at this point. Those will be taken care of later.
Step two:
Mix the Envirotext Lite Pour-On Epoxy Resin. Follow the instructions on the package carefully. Every brand is different. For this brand, I mix equal parts of the resin, and the hardener in a small cup. You will need a very small amount of resin to cover the earrings so don’t mix a bunch! Stir the two parts to combine, and continue stirring for 2 minutes. Make sure you scrape the sides and bottom of the cup! After 2 minutes, pour into a second clean cup and mix again for another minute.
Step three:
Place your fabric pieces on a silicone mat or other nonstick surface. I have a silicone baking mat that is marked for craft use only and it works perfectly. Just don’t use your silicone mat to bake with after!
Step four:
Pour a small amount of resin onto the fabric pieces. Just a dot to fill the middle of the fabric is enough! Use a disposable craft brush, or your stirring stick to spread the resin out to the edges of the fabric piece. Don’t worry if the resin leaks off the fabric or spills around it.
Allow the resin to cure completely. I left mine overnight.
Step five:
Peel the resin coated fabric pieces off of the silicone mat and use scissors to trim any excess resin from around the fabric.
Step six:
Use a needle to poke a hole through the resin coated fabric pieces. Attach the earring findings to the fabric piece with a small jump ring. If you don’t want hook earrings, you could also use some strong glue to attach earring posts to the back of the fabric piece.
My sensitive ears don’t do very well with large heavy earrings and these are so perfect! They are unbelievably lightweight and super durable.
The fabric doesn’t fray anymore, and it won’t rip or fall apart.
You can use just one piece per earring, or add several.
Use the fabric coated pieces to make charms, string them together to form a bracelet, or use them as a necklace pendant. So many possibilities! You could even use a special piece of fabric from a treasured baby outfit or similarly loved fabric item to preserve it forever. What would you coat in resin?
