Patriotic glass pebble coasters
I really love Summer. It’s my favorite season. I love the warmth, and the outside activities, BBQs and camping and gardens. The 4th of July is coming up. Celebrating our Independence day will surely involve a BBQ picnic and fireworks. We are in the perfect spot to watch the city fireworks without even leaving home. We pull up a couple cozy lawn chairs, and some blankets on the patio and enjoy the show. I don’t have very many Patriotic decorations yet. I’m working on it slowly. But some of my favorite decorations are the functional ones which is why I love these patriotic glass pebble coasters. They’re so easy to make, and you only need a a few supplies!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Patriotic Glass Pebble Coasters:
- Large clear glass pebbles (You can sometimes find these at the Dollar Store)
- Americana 3D Gloss Enamels in Red, White, and Blue
- E6000 Glue
- Felt in Red, White, or Blue (optional)
Step one: Using the 3D Gloss Enamel paint, color your clear glass pebbles. I did equal numbers of red, white and blue. Let these dry for at least 24 hours and then bake the pebbles in your oven following the instructions on the bottle for a dishwasher safe cured finish.
Step two: Use the E6000 glue to glue your pebbles together in a flower shape. A dab of glue between each pebble will hold them tight. While the glue will be dry to the touch within an hour, you should let it cure fully at least overnight.
Step three: (This step is optional) After your E6000 glue is dry to the touch, put your pebble coaster on the felt color of your choice and glue it down with more e6000 glue.
Trim the felt to the right shape, matching your pebbles. I haven’t found the bare stones to be causing any problems on any of the surfaces they have been acting as coasters for, however if you plan to have super cold drinks that are going to sweat a lot, it might help soak up some of the condensation.
While you do need some significant drying/curing times for this project, the actual work only takes minutes and it’s so easy! I love how they turned out too.
They are the perfect size for a can of soda, or a drinking glass. I want to make a bigger one for a pretty patriotic trivet too. And you don’t have to make them red, white and blue either. Any color combination, or even just clear glass would work too!
I think this is the perfect way to add a little bit of patriotic flare to your BBQ!
