Painted Patriotic Yard Flamingos
Paint a pair of traditional pink yard flamingos for the holiday season! Using durable multi-surface or outdoor paint you can transform these cute birds for any season or holiday. I painted this lovely pair to add some fun Patriotic flair to our yard this year and I had so much fun transforming them that I think I need a pair for every holiday!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your flamingos fancy:
- Plastic Pink Yard Flamingos
- Decoart Multi-Surface Satin Paint or Outdoor Living Paint
- Spray Sealant
- Paint Brushes

The hardest part, in my opinion, was deciding on a design to paint. I decided to give one of my flamingos a Flag inspired makeover, and one of them a painted flower look.
Start by painting the base color of your choice. I painted both flamingos the same blue base color. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on.

After the base coat is dry, add details. For the floral flamingo, I used various shades of red, white and blue to paint flowers all over the body of my flamingo.

For my stars and stripes bird, I painted the flamingo body with white stars, and the wings with red and white stripes. I wanted my birds to shimmer a little so I used DecoArt Galaxy Glitter paints over the top of the colored paints to add some sparkle. Because I was not sure how this paint would hold up to the elements, I sprayed both flamingos with an outdoor sealant after they were finished, just to be on the safe side!

They turned out so fun! Obviously, paints rated for use on plastics and for outdoors will hold up better. The multi-surface Satin paint went onto the plastic great. Patio paint or outdoor living paint would also be fabulous choices for these birds.
I’m excited to paint some more fun flamingos for other holidays now. Yep, we are going to be THAT yard. And I love it!
