I don’t know about you, but I hate to be cold. Winter is hard! One of my favorite things to do in the winter is take a nice soak in a hot bathtub. A good book, some hot cocoa and a handful of lovely soaking salts and it’s the perfect way to relax. This Bath Tray Gift Set is actually so so easy to put together! You can use the wood burner to personalize it however you wish too! I chose to write one word on each piece of the bath set. On the Tray I put the word “Relax” the Tablet stand says “Read” and the recipe box to hold the bath salts (my favorite salt recipe below!) says “Rejuvenate.”
Step one:
Use graphite tracing paper to copy your selected text to the wood, or freehand it. I printed out my words in a font I love, and a little bit of tape helps to hold the papers in place while I trace the words.
Step two:
Attach the Flow Point tip to your Versa-Tool and turn the heat setting to the highest available option. Slowly trace the letters in your words, and fill in any thicker spots.
Step three:
Apply the self-sealing Color Stain using a soft clean rag, or paintbrush. Wipe off any excess stain before it dries to see the wood grain, or leave it thicker to look more like paint. I wanted the colored stain to show the beautiful wood grains so I wiped the stain off as I went. Since the stain is self-sealing, no sealer is needed! Which is awesome! I stained the salt box Turquoise, the tablet stand Ash Grey, and the Pallet Tray Charcoal.
Step four:
I had two drawer handles leftover from a kitchen project, so I added those to the tray. Drill a hole using a drill bit appropriate for your hardware (mine needed a 3/32 drill bit) and then add your hardware handles to each side of the bath tray. This makes it super easy to pick up and put down the tray with all of the bath stuff on it.
My favorite bath salt recipe:
In the recipe box that says “Rejuvenate” I put two little jars of my favorite relaxing bath salts. The recipe box fits two little 4oz mason jars inside it! I used eucalyptus oil in my salt and added a little bit of green food coloring to give them some color.
- 1/4 Cup Epsom Salt
- 1/4 Cup Coarse Sea Salt
- 1/4 Cup Baking Soda
- 2 teaspoons Coconut Oil (Melted)
- Essential oil
- Mix The Epsom salt, Sea Salt, and Baking soda in a bowl.
- Pour the melted coconut oil into the mixture and stir to combine well.
- Add your favorite essential oil. The amount will depend on your personal preference and the oils used. A few drops should do it.
- Store in an airtight container
- Add 1/4 cup salt mixture to a hot bath and relax.
Tuck a couple jars of the bath soak into the cute box, wrap it all up, and make your favorite bath loving friend super happy this year!
The rustic pallet was the perfect size for a standard bathtub!
