Vintage TV console turned to dogs bed!
Step two: Remove the back of the TV (make sure you are wearing proper safety stuff!) Hubby did this part for me. He really just started unscrewing any screws he could find, and clipping wires. We were not concerned with saving any of the TVs innards so it was just a matter of pulling out everything, in one piece or in pieces. Make sure to remove the actual tube carefully as it can cause some harm if it breaks. This step took him about 30 minutes!
After all the insides had been removed, I used some sand paper to smooth things out a little. For my purpose, the bottom that was in the TV already would work OK so I did not need to cut or add any other boards. Once any rough edges had been sanded down, I wiped the whole tv down to clean it up before painting. I used some leftover paint we had from the house to coat the inside of the TV. So far, the total cost of this project has been $0.00! Who doesn’t love free?
Once the inside was all painted, Hubby helped me screw the back onto the cabinet. I added the dogs pillow and put his food and water dishes inside too. The whole project took only a couple hours, and Dobby is very happy in his new bed! Eventually I will use a tension rod and the rest of the sheet that I used to cover the back to make curtains. The top made an excellent plant stand, that window gets amazing light!
I gave this dog bed a lot more character and color when I gave it a second chance. Getting braver with this console dog bed even won a contest! You can read all about it right here!
