Dollar Store candle sticks – Sunday Spotlight
I love a great dollar store craft! They are cheap, and with a little creativity you can take a $1 item (or a few $1 items) and turn it into something lovely. For this weeks Sunday Spotlight I found some great projects you can do with this common dollar store item! Dollar store candle stick crafts!
These are as basic as they come for Dollar store items! I’ve never been in a store that didn’t have them (and usually lots of them!) There are some really great things you can do with these pretty little glass candle holders. Earlier this week I made some projects of my own using these lovely little candle sticks. I really loved this little raised soap dish for my kitchen! It gets the scrubber, and soaps off the sink, looks so much better, and cleanup is so easy.
It was so easy to make. Just took a few minutes really (plus time for the glue to dry). Isn’t that little plate amazing? I found it in the clearance section at Tai Pan trading for just over $1! Love that store!
The E6000 glue (affiliate link) is so amazing. It bonds the glass together perfectly, and can be hand washed without any problems so I’m not worried about the raised dish getting dirty.
Just a little bit of the glue on the top of the candle stick and then you place it onto your dish and let the glue dry. It needs several hours to cure well, and probably shouldn’t be washed for at least 24 hours after you are done.
So easy! let it sit like this until the glue feels dry, a few hours. And that’s it, you’re done! I wanted little glass soap bottles to sit on the dish. I found some oil and vinegar cruets that were roughly the size I wanted. I’m still not happy with these, but they will do for now. I used Armour Etch glass etching cream (affiliate) to etch a label into the glass. They are the perfect size, but the soap pours out too slowly unless thinned. What would you suggest using in their place?
Here are some other really great things you can make with these dollar store candle holders:
Beautiful twine wrapped message or picture holders from Southern Color
A really great tiered dessert tray from Sarah Lipoff on PopSugar
This beautiful candlestick topiary tutorial from Stay at Home Artist
Simple pillar candle jar here at the Craft Shack
A simply amazing Faux silver Bird and flowers pedestal bowl from Morena’s Corner
Dollar store glass hurricane by 320 Sycamore
You can even use them for Halloween or other holiday decor like these

So many fun ideas, and so little time to make them all! Lucky for us, I don’t think the dollar store will run out of these little gems anytime soon.
