DIY Heidi Swapp LightBox Valentines Day Inserts
Several months ago I was able to attend the Michaels Makers Summit in Carmel California. It was an awesome adventure! Besides being able to meet some very amazing and talented makers, they spoiled us throughout the entire trip. One of the super fun items that I came home with was a new Heidi Swapp Lightbox. We have had so much fun switching out the letters for various holidays, or just for fun. You can buy fun inserts and accessories for the light box. But sometimes it’s lots of fun to make things like this yourself. It’s so easy, too! I wanted some fun custom lightbox inserts for Valentines Day so I made my own, and I’m going to share with you! We love Donuts around here, so this fun trendy saying was perfect for the lightbox.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Custom LightBox inserts:
- Heidi Swap LightBox
- Computer Printable Transparent Plastic Sheets (For your printer type – Laser or Ink Jet)
- Printable designs (free for your personal use)
- Scissors or cutter
Step one:
Use the adorable custom templates I’ve designed for you (Free for your personal use only, please) or make your own graphic. The graphic will need to be just a tick over 2 and 3/4 inches high to slide neatly into the full size lightbox. You can click on these links to download the printable PDF file to your computer: All You Need is Love LightBox Printable (template one) CSC LightBox I Love Donuts Printable (template two)
Step two:
Print the graphic on the clear transparent printable sheets. Make sure you insert the sheets with the rough side up to be printed on. For these templates, you will need to set your printer to print the actual size, don’t scale to fit. Let the sheet dry for a few minutes before you handle just to make sure the ink won’t smudge.
Step three:
Cut your graphic along the cut lines. Slide it into your lightbox!
Simple as that!
The transparent sheets are perfect against the light! You can leave off the “And Donuts” line, of course, if you hate donuts (what kind of person hates donuts though?!) or you could design your own third line for whatever your & would be!
Now that I’ve discovered how easy it is to customize my own lightbox inserts, the possibilities are endless! I’m sure this won’t be the last design I share with you!
