Personalize a flower pot with Cricut Holographic Vinyl
With Mother’s Day less than two weeks away, and Spring knocking at my door, I have flowers on my mind a lot these days. I just love plants, and flowers and growing things! I found some simple white plant pots at my local dollar store and I bought the last six on the shelf. I just knew they would make the perfect flower pot to add this awesome new Cricut Holographic Vinyl to! They turned out awesome, now I’m looking for other things I can add this really fun vinyl to. I’ve been eyeing my KitchenAid mixer, maybe I’ll use holographic vinyl on that next! Wouldn’t that be so cool? I wanted to share the fun flower pots I made with you today, because they would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift for the flower loving Mothers in your life.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Holographic Vinyl Flower Pot:
- Cricut Cutting Machine with Design Space
- Cricut Holographic Vinyl
- Standard Grip Cutting Mat
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- Weeding Tool
- Plain flower pots with straight sides (it’s hard to work with vinyl on a bumpy surface!) (I found mine at the dollar store)
Use the Cricut Design Space to design your own image, or use my ready to go designs by clicking these links below:
Send them to your Machine to cut. Use a Standard grip mat (with a decent amount of stick left) to hold the holographic vinyl. I found that my older standard grip mat wouldn’t hold this vinyl very well. I needed a newer mat with a good grip. A heavy grip mat with some wear on it would work as well.
Peel off the excess vinyl when it’s finished cutting. I like to use the weeding tool to help with this step. It pulls those small bits out so well!
Cut a piece of transfer tape to the same size as your image and press the tape firmly over the design. Rub out any bubbles.
Peel the paper backing off, leaving your cut holographic design, and the transfer tape. Lay the design down on your flower pot and rub it well again, push out any bubbles that might be under the vinyl.
Slowly peel the transfer tape off the design. Pulling the transfer tape parallel to the flower pot will help the tape not pull the design back off with it.
Now you have a pretty, customized flower pot ready to fill with pretty flowers. Perfect for Mother’s Day, especially if your mom is like me and loves pretty growing things!
I made a fun little video to show you the process step by step! I hope you like it! Please feel free to share it if you do!
What would you use this fun Holographic Vinyl on? Besides decals for my KitchenAid Mixer, I’m thinking it would make fun planner stickers too! So many possibilities, so little time.
